Course Description
Join RSN Tutor Helen Jones for this course exploring the techniques of wired embroidery through a beautiful Rose and Nettle design.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to create embroidered elements using wire to give structure and dimension to your work. Helen will guide you through the process of framing up using a seat frame before introducing the techniques needed to create, stitch and embellish individual wired shapes.
You will work with Buttonhole and Stem stitches, exploring how different colours can be used to create shading, depth and detail across the rose and nettle design. You will also learn how to incorporate beads as an additional embellishment, adding texture and interest to the finished piece.
As your embroidered elements develop, Helen will demonstrate how to work with the supporting wires, including how to plunge and securely tie them back to achieve a neat finish.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a strong understanding of the key techniques involved in wired embroidery and the skills and confidence to begin creating your own dimensional embroidered designs.
