RSN Fellowship Programme
Recognising the significant commitment and expertise of RSN professional embroiderers and tutors
The RSN Fellowship Programme was launched in 2024 to recognise the significant commitment and expertise of RSN professional embroiderers and tutors and celebrate the high standards achieved after three years of dedicated study across a broad variety of hand embroidery techniques and applications.
Customers frequently tell us how much they value and appreciate the skill and knowledge of our professional tutors and actively choose RSN trained tutors and embroiderers when considering courses and other projects.
Membership Badges
RSN Fellows display the Fellowship badge to show their extensive study. Fellows of the RSN (FRSN) are all graduates of the RSN’s Apprenticeship scheme, dedicated Future Tutor programme which replaced the apprenticeship in 2012 or from 2024 the Professional Embroidery & Tutor programme.
They have undertaken and passed the most intensive and rigorous training of all RSN courses and are uniquely qualified to teach and practise, to the highest standards, the broadest range of embroidery techniques and related activities.
Fellows can show the length of their professional experience by displaying the number of years since graduation at the bottom of their Fellowship badge (5 year increments) with a special version of the badge available after 25 years.
As experts in the field of embroidery, RSN Fellows pursue professional careers and help further the mission of the RSN. Fellows renew their membership on an annual basis and undertake to continue their own professional development each year to enhance their overall skills and ensure they are up to date with the latest and most relevant developments in teaching generally and embroidery as relevant.
As well as training to the highest level in technical hand embroidery, the RSN also ensures its tutors learn about the history, development and uses of hand embroidery over the years. This is further complemented by classes in Art & Design and Business Skills, as well as opportunities to assist qualified tutors, demonstrate and teach at various classes, workshops and exhibitions to gain valuable teaching practice and complete a teaching qualification (AET Level 3)
