In this talk, the Project Curator of the exhibition, Dr Millie Horton-Insch, will outline the history of the Tapestry and reflect on the process of curating this historic show.
Dr Millie Horton-Insch is an art historian and a specialist in early medieval textiles. She completed her PhD at University College London in 2024 and is presently the Project Curator of The Bayeux Tapestry Exhibition at The British Museum. Upon completing this project she will take up the position of Lecturer of Dress and Textile Histories at the University of Glasgow.
The exhibition of the Bayeux Tapestry at The British Museum is the first time that the tapestry has been shown in the UK since it was made, almost 1000 years ago. An embroidered epic, the Tapestry is believed to have been made shortly after the events it depicts: the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. Its display at The British Museum is expected to be one of the most popular exhibitions in the museum’s history.
Please note that this event is a LIVE online talk via Zoom at the given date and time and will last between approximately 60-90 minutes including questions and answers.
