Course Description
Goldwork is the perfect technique for this festive design. Prized for the way light catches the surface of its metal threads, Goldwork has a distinctive richness and sparkle that brings the mistletoe motif to life.
Working closely with expert RSN tutors, you will learn how to build areas of Goldwork padding before carefully laying cutwork over the surface, creating raised areas that catch and reflect the light. You will be guided through how to prepare, cut and apply the metal threads accurately to achieve a beautifully finished result.
You will also learn how to apply Pearl Purl to create delicate Goldwork linework and definition throughout the design, before adding pearls as a final festive detail.
Suitable for a range of stitching abilities, this one-day course offers an opportunity to explore some of the fundamental techniques of Goldwork embroidery while creating a beautiful seasonal piece inspired by mistletoe.

Our tutors are friendly, approachable and genuinely passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge. Whether you are completely new to embroidery or have been stitching for years, they will support you throughout the course and create a welcoming environment that feels really special to be part of.
What you will need to bring
Everything you need to complete your embroidery will be provided as part of the course.
We recommend bringing a notebook and pen to make notes throughout the day, along with any favourite embroidery equipment you like to use, such as your own embroidery scissors or needle threader.
Please note that this course is not held at the Royal School of Needlework’s base at Hampton Court Palace. Before attending, please check the venue information carefully, including any specific access requirements and travel arrangements, and allow plenty of time for your journey.
