Course Description
Explore the techniques of wired embroidery through a striking Mythical Flower design, combining dimensional embroidery, colour and embellishment.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to create embroidered elements using wire to give structure and shape to your work. You will begin by learning how to frame up using a seat frame before exploring the techniques needed to create, stitch and embellish individual wired shapes.
You will work with Buttonhole and Fishbone stitches, using a range of colours to explore shading and build depth and detail within the flower. You will also learn how to incorporate beads into the design, adding further texture and embellishment to your embroidery.
As the individual elements develop, you will learn how to work with the supporting wires, including how to plunge and securely tie them back to create a neat and professional finish.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a strong understanding of the techniques involved in wired embroidery and the skills to take these techniques beyond the course, creating your own dimensional flowers and other wired embroidered designs.
