Course Description

Discover the foundations of Luneville tambour beading embroidery in this intensive three-day workshop, exploring a technique widely used in haute couture ateliers to create intricate embellishment on delicate textiles.

Through a carefully structured programme of practical exercises, you will learn how to handle and control the Luneville tambour hook while developing the essential skills needed to create precise, even stitches. The course provides a hands-on introduction to the technique, with a focus on building confidence through repetition and practice.

Throughout the workshop, you will explore the fundamental principles of tambour embroidery, developing control of tension, rhythm and direction. These elements are key to creating the fluid, consistent stitches that define Luneville embroidery and allow intricate patterns and embellishments to be worked efficiently onto fabric.

The intensive format provides time to practise each stage of the technique and gradually build your confidence with the tambour hook. Tutor Biography

Axelle Faes-Cortes

Axelle Faes-Cortes, a French embroidery artisan, brings a wealth of experience rooted in the cherished traditions of Haute Couture. Her passion for Lunéville and Tambour Beading Embroidery blossomed through dedicated study, earning her the French Certificate of "Broderie d'Art" at Paris's esteemed Octave Feuillet School in 2014. Further refining her craft, she honed her skills in sample creation at The Dupere School and explored textile art at The Beaux Arts Atelier, both in Paris. Over the years, Axelle has had the privilege of collaborating with numerous Haute Couture and Readyto-Wear houses, contributing her intricate touch to their stunning collections
