Course Description
Explore Goldwork embroidery in greater depth through the creation of an intricate dragonfly design, developing your understanding of both traditional techniques and the process of building a Goldwork piece from start to finish.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to approach the order of work, understanding how different areas of Goldwork are planned, padded and embroidered to create a clean and considered finish. You will explore a range of padding methods, learning how these can be used to create different levels of height, structure and dimension within the dragonfly.
You will learn a variety of Goldwork techniques including Cutwork, Couching, Chipping and the application of Plate, exploring how different metal threads and materials can be combined to create contrast, texture and detail. Sophie will guide you through each technique, showing you how to handle and apply the metal threads accurately and securely.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a more in-depth understanding of Goldwork embroidery and how its different techniques can be combined within a single design, giving you the skills and confidence to apply them to future embroidery projects.
