Worked entirely in gold against a rich teal background, the design combines Tambour Embroidery, Goldwork, hand beading and raised embroidery to create a floral piece with lots of texture and dimension.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003eDuring the course, you will work through the design from the individual embroidered elements through to constructing the final piece. You will start by creating the flower petals as separate flat shapes, using Tambour Embroidery to apply overlapping gold sequins. Working the sequins closely together creates the full, heavily embellished surface often seen within couture embroidery.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003eThe petals are then wired, giving you the opportunity to shape each one individually before attaching it to the main fabric. This takes the embroidery away from the surface and allows you to build flowers with real height and structure.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003eFor the centres of the flowers, you will learn how to create three-dimensional Goldwork loops. These sit amongst the sequin petals and add a completely different metallic texture to the centre of each flower.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003eThe stems running through the design are worked in a mixture of Tambour Chain Stitch and Goldwork. Your tutor will take you through both techniques and show you how they can be used alongside one another within the same piece. You will also work directly onto the teal ground using hand embellishment techniques, applying both flat and cupped sequins. Using different shapes and finishes of sequins allows some areas to sit flat against the fabric while others have more relief.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"ewa-rteLine\"\u003eOver the eight weeks, you will see how a couture embroidery design is built up in stages and how separate embroidered components can be brought together to create a much more complex finished piece.
